さて今回飲んだワイン Kanu Rockwood Red 2008 R50 Stellenbosch Nice clarity. Light garnet colour, not depth. (3/3)
No odour. Straightforward for cassis and dark cherry flavor. Good for drink now. (5/7)
Velvety tannin. Chocolate, raspberry, slightly peppery. Light body. Not much complexity. Alcohol seems to be lower. Good for table and daily wine. (6/10)
<Conclusion> Style is light medium body. Velvety and smooth tannin seems to be Merlot and little amount of Cabernet Sauvignon. Not much lingering after taste, it would be suitable for daily drinking wine.
tasting notes A nose of dark chocolate and raspberry, complimented by the peppery, nutmeg and cinnamon notes of the Shiraz component. Soft, velvety tannins with lively fruit that ends in a long dry finish. ageing potential Drinking well now, but will benefit from two to three years' bottle maturation. food suggestions An everyday social red to be enjoyed on it's own or with slow roasted Oxtail. Serve slightly cooled in summer with mezze platters and salads. in the cellar Picked at optimal ripeness, the grapes were soaked to extract colour and allow partial natural fermentation to begin. Later a cultured yeast was added to ensure a complete fermentation. Gentle pump-overs, followed by an early pressing, captured the essential aromatic fruity notes and soften tannins. With the aid of a gravity flow cellar, there was minimal pumping. Once in the tank, French Oak shaves were used to add complexity and micro oxygenation was adopted to soften tannins and make for a more approachable, delicious style
Klein Constantia Perdeblokke is a single
vineyard wine. The name refers to the horses that tilled the soils of this
vineyard whose steep slopes lie 200-220m above sea level.
Since its planting in 2000 it has yielded the
best quality sauvignon on the farm, which resulted in the decision to produce a
single vineyard wine. It is made only in years of exceptional quality in order
to uphold the reputation of the Perdeblokke vineyard. Harvested in the
cool early morning, the grapes were pressed gently to yield fresh, healthy
juice which was lightly racked before being inoculated for fermentation. Fine
lees maturation for a year preceded bottling. The wine was held back for
further time in bottle before release.
Tasting Notes
An assertive style of sauvignon which exhibits
pungent herbaceous aromas, so typical of the cool-climate expression of this
variety in Constantia. The youthful palate is still tightly wound around a
bracingly fresh, fine acid core, slowly revealing textured layers of white
peach and grapefruit, and carrying the wine to a long and vibrant mineral
conclusion.
Maturation
The screw-cap closure, low pH and minimal
intervention between fermentation and bottling, will ensure development in
bottle until the end of this decade
