高野山　女人道巡り

高野山への七本の参詣道を
高野七口といいます。
The seven entrances of
Koyasan is called “Koya
Nanakuchi”




高野山は明治の初めまで
女人禁制でしたので、
Because women were prohibited 
to enter Koyasan until 1906, 




高野山の入り口に
女性のための籠り堂として
女人堂がつくられました。
Nyonindo, a place where women
could stay, was built at each
entrance.




現在は不動坂口にのみ
女人堂が残っています。
There is only one Nyonindo
 left at Fudozakaguchi







女性信者は
空海の御廟を拝みたいと
八葉蓮華の峰々をめぐる
高野山女人道を
たどったといわれています。
The devotees, who wanted
to see Kukai’s mausoleum,
walked Nyonin-michi, 
pilgrimage route.




不動坂口女人堂の
前の登山口から
女人堂巡りをしたいと
思いましたが、
I wanted to walk and
visit all Nyonindo from
the Fudozakaguchi, but










とりあえず、
まずは大門の左にある登山口から
弁天岳に登ることにしました。
first, I decided to walk up to
Bentendake from the trail 
entrance near Daimon.







鳥居をくぐり、
登り始めます。
I went through 
the torii gate and
started climbing up.









ずっと鳥居が続き、
厳かな気持ちになります。
It was solemn to go through
many torii gates one after
another.





　




しかし、
道は思っていたより
険しく...
However, the trail was
a bit tougher than I
originally expected.










茂みから、
獣が飛び出してきそうな
雰囲気です。
I felt uneasy for any wild
animals were in the bushes.











後で聞いた話ですが、
実際クマが出没するらしいです。
I learned that a bear was sighted
after the fact.







いきなり
目の前に
壮大な景色が
広がりました。
Suddenly,
the vast mountain view 
was right in front of me.




あれは...
That would be.. 







かすかに見えるは
根本大塔です。
I could see Daito.






そして
約30分ほどで
頂上に着きました。
It took me about 30 minutes 
to the top.










山の上の立派な嶽弁財天です。
真言を唱えました。
オン　ソラソバテイエイ　ソワカ
It was a magnificent Benzaiten.
I chanted the mantra.











遍路道に慣れている
私ですが、
この木の根の上は
大変歩きにくかったです。
Although I’m used to walk
on the mountain pathes,
it was a bit challenging 
to walk on the roots of
trees.









その上、
気のせいか下りは
道がどんどん狭くなります。
On top of that,
the path going down seemed
to be narrower and narrower.











最後に
狭い階段を降りると
After going down
the narrow stairs











お竹地蔵さんに
到着しました。
I arrived by 
the Otake jizo.









今回は、
金剛杖を持たずに
登ったことを
大変後悔しました。
I regretted that I didn’t 
bring Kongozue, a walking
stick for pilgrimage, 
with me.





細い道や急な下り坂では
支えになりますし、
It could’ve helped me
when I walked the narrow 
and steep path, and




杖についている鈴は
クマよけになります。
the bell could’ve been
a bear repellent.




なによりも...
More than anything else




「同行二人」の精神は
お四国だけではなく
常に心の拠り所であります。
the stick, which is
manifestation of Kukai, 
could always be
my moral support.
