Hiroshima Prefecture: -Interviewed Mr. Fumiaki Kajiya, a storyteller about 'HIROSHIMA'-
広島県：~ヒロシマを語り継ぐ梶矢文昭さんに聞く~
書籍「日本製」は、日本中の様々な伝統文化や工芸品との素敵な出会いで、どのページも楽しそうな三浦春馬さんの笑顔で溢れています。そんな「日本製」の中で、春馬さんの笑顔の写真が1枚もない唯一のエピソードについて、ご紹介したいと思います。広島県で、原爆体験の語り部として活動している梶矢文昭氏が語る 「ヒロシマ」のお話です。
“日本製～Nihon-sei ～” is a book of extraordinary encounters with various traditional cultures and crafts from all over Japan, and Haruma Miura’s happy smiles are on every page. The only episode in “Nihon-sei” that does not include a photo of Haruma’s smile was a visit to Mr. Fumiaki Kajiya, a war storyteller in Hiroshima Prefecture. Mr.Kajiya tells the story of the day the atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima city during World War II.
第二次世界大戦の終結から75 年以上が経って、世界で唯一の被爆国である日本で生まれ育った春馬さんにとっても、「ヒロシマ」は、 学校で習う歴史上の出来事のひとつでした。でも、俳優という職業で ある春馬さんには、作品の中で第二次世界大戦の時代を生きた若者に触れたり、「日本製」の取材で広島を訪れるなど、先の戦争の事を考えるチャンスが幾度となくあったのではないかと思います。
More than 75 years have passed since the end of World War II. Japan is still the only country in the world to have experienced the atomic bombing. Despite that, for Haruma and many Japanese people born and raised in Japan after the war, HIROSHIMA is just one historical event they learned about at school. However, through his several works as an actor, Haruma must have had many opportunities to think about the war, and he visited Hiroshima city to interview for “日本製～Nihon-sei～.”

春馬さんがインタビューをした梶矢さんに限らず、戦争体験を持つ語り部たちの高齢化が進んでいます。「ヒロシマ」を体験した人物から、直接話を聞く事ができる残された時間は、もうそれほど長くはないでしょう。その意味でも、ひとりの俳優として、 また日本人として、この取材は春馬さんにとって貴重な機会だった事でしょう。
The generation such as Mr. Kajiya that experienced the war is aging. It is unlikely that we will have enough time to hear directly from those who experienced HIROSHIMA. In this sense, as an actor and a Japanese, this interview must have been a precious opportunity for Haruma.
梶矢さんは原爆投下当時6歳。原爆が投下されたのは朝の8時頃で梶矢少年は学校にいました。原爆の爆風で建物は崩壊。瓦礫の中から這い出て、避難する人々の列に加わり、近くの山へ避難したそうです。程なくして、爆心地から半径2.5キロ、広島市の約90%は焦土と化しました。夜になり、延焼が収まるのを見て初めて、梶矢少年は我に返りました。その後、家族の元に戻りましたが、残念ながらお姉さんは亡くなられたそうです。
Mr. Kajiya was six years old at the time. He was at school when the bomb was dropped at 8:15 in the morning. The school buildings collapsed due to the blast of the atomic bomb. He crawled out of the rubble, joined the line of evacuees, and took refuge in a nearby mountain. Soon, the area in a radius of 2.5 km from the hypocenter was burned out. It was 90% area of Hiroshima city.
At night, finally, he came back to reality when he saw the spread of the fire was settled. Afterward, he reunited with his family. Unfortunately, he got to know that his elder sister had passed away.

このような戦争体験にまつわるストーリーは、国土を焼かれるような戦争を経験した国で生まれ育った人なら、何度も聞いている「よくある話」かもしれません。学校の授業で、修学旅行で、あるいは、戦争体験者の身近な人から、どこかしらで聞いたことがある人も多いのではないでしょうか。でも、この「日本製」のインタ ビューは、それだけで終わらないのです。春馬さんは、この途方にくれるような悲劇的な状況の中から、広島の市井の人々が、どうやって立ち上がってきたかを尋ねています。
You may have heard enough of these kinds of ‘old stories’ a hundred times, in a school class, on a school trip, or from close people who have experienced war. Especially you were born and raised in a country that has experience of being bombed on the land in war, and it must often happen.
But this interview does not end with this story alone. Haruma asked how the ordinary people of Hiroshima have risen from this tragic situation.
梶矢さんの話によれは、水道は原爆投下のその日のうちに、広島駅前の電気は2日後に復旧、翌日には路面電車もバスも運行を再開したそうです。その原動力となったのは、「生き残ったからには一生懸命生きなければという想いがみんなにあったから」と梶矢さんは言います。
梶矢さんは、「戦争を始めるのは簡単だけど、一度始めた戦争を収める事は難しい。原爆が悪いのではなく、戦争が悪いのだ」と、今も子供たちに平和の大切さを伝え続ける活動を続けています。
According to Mr. Kajiya, it restored the water supply in a day on the bombing, electricity in front of Hiroshima Station was restored two days later. And streetcars and buses were back in operation the next day. Mr. Kajiya said the driving force behind this was “Everyone’s desire to live as hard as they could because they had survived. It is easy to start a war. But it is difficult to stop it once it has started. A bomb may not be bad, and the bad thing is the war.”
Mr. Kajiya has continued to convey the importance of peace to children.

広島市の原爆死没者名簿の登録数によると、放射線被曝による犠牲者を含む 「ヒロシマ」の犠牲者は、33万3907人とされています(2022年8月現在)。
2021年、日本では、春馬さんが出演した映画「太陽の子」が、原爆記念日である8月6日に公開されました。この作品は、第二次大戦中の日本で、原子爆弾の製造について研究していた青年の物語で、春馬さんはその青年の弟役で出演しています。春馬さんが、生前最後に公の場に姿を表したのは、この映画に関係した取材の機会で、場所は広島での事でした。広島と春馬さんとは、そんなご縁で繋がっている土地でもあります。戦争や平和について思う時、広島での梶矢さんと過ごした時間も、これまで演じてきたその時代に生きる若者も、春馬さんにとっては特別なものだったことでしょう。原爆投下から76年目の夏、その時代を描いた作品の中で、懸命に生きる若者を演じる春馬さんに会えることに感謝しながら、「ヒロシマ」の事を改めて考えてみたいと思います。
According to Hiroshima City, the register of atomic bomb victims of HIROSHIMA are to be 333,907, including those exposed to radiation (as of August 2022).
In 2021, the movie “太陽の子 (Gift of Fire)” starring Haruma, was released in Japan on August 6, the 76th anniversary of the atomic bombing. The film is about a young man researching developing an atomic bomb in Japan during World War II. Haruma played the role of this young man’s younger brother. The last time Haruma appeared in public before his passing away was for an interview related to this movie, and it was in Hiroshima. There is a deep connection between Hiroshima and Haruma through such a mystic relationship. When he thinks about war and peace, the time he spent with Mr. Kajiya in Hiroshima, as well as the young man of that era he has played, must have been very special to him. In the summer of the 76th anniversary of the atomic bombing, I am grateful to meet Haruma as he plays a young man trying his best to live in the film depicting that era.

Haruma introduced "The Association of Teachers Continuing to Speak about Hiroshima," the Nihon-Sei of Hiroshima prefecture, in the August 2017 issue of "Monthly +act.”
