近所の神社の参道で撮影していたら

老人に話しかけられました。

まだ東武伊勢崎線が高架じゃなくて

ここに鉄橋あったことを聞き、

その頃の風景は良かったでしょうね〜って言ったら、

その頃の綾瀬川はまるでドブ川で

かなり臭うこともあったとか。

風景も、車両も、

昔は良かったなんて考えちゃうけど、

今の時代のほうが良いことも

たくさんあるんだよなぁ。

I was talked to by an old man when I was taking photos on the approach of a shrine near my house.
I heard that there had been an railway bridge for Tobu Isesaki line here before building overhead railway.
So I said the scenery at that time must have been better, but he said Ayasegawa River was a dirty river at that time so sometimes smelled quite bad.
We tend to imagine an old age was better than now but there are a lot of things that are better nowadays.
