百日紅並木道 コジローの散歩道
When it comes to summer flowers, I can say sunflower, morning glory, crape myrtle and oleanders.

We can enjoy crape myrtles for about 100 days as its Chinese characters means.
百日紅は字のごとく100日間ほど花を楽しめます。
Every summer morning, I used to walk with our dog Kojiro a street with row of crape myrtles. Seeing this flower reminds me of Kojiro.

It’s said oleanders have strong poison and can grow in polluted air so they are planted along road with heavy traffic and the fences of schools. They stop harmful insects from flying into the school buildings.

夾竹桃は強い毒があり汚れた空気でも育つと言われています。だから交通量の多い道路や学校のフェンスに沿って植えられます。有毒な虫が校舎に入るのを防ぎます。
広島の原爆後、最初に咲いた花だった。
