The turtle said, “I want to take you to a sea palace as a token of my appreciation. Please sit on my back.”
そのカメは言いました、「私は感謝の印にあなたを竜宮城に連れて行きたい。どうか私の背に座って下さい。」
When Urashima sat on the turtle’s back, it started to swim into the sea.
After swimming for a while, they came to the gate of the sea palace.
Princess Otohime came out and said, “Welcome to my sea palace.”
浦島がカメの背に座わるとカメは海の中に泳ぎ始めた。しばらく泳ぐと彼は竜宮城の門にやってきました。
乙姫様が出てきて言いました、「竜宮城にようこそ」
Since then, she entertained him with nice foods and beautiful dancing by colorful fish every day. He was so happy that he couldn’t realize many years had passed.
それから、彼女は彼を毎日、素晴らしい食事と色とりどりの魚たちの踊りでもてなしてくれました。彼はあまりにも楽しかったので月日の経つのに気がつかなかった。
One day, he said to her, “It’s time for me to go home.”
She was very sad and said,
“It can’t be helped, please keep this box as our remembrance but promise not to open it”
ある日、彼は彼女に言いました「そろそろ家に帰るときです」彼女は大変悲しみました。そして言いました、「しかたがありません、私たちの思い出にどうかこの箱を持っていて下さい、でも開かないと約束してください。」
When he came back to his village riding the turtle’s back, he couldn’t find his parents, his friends and his house.
彼がそのカメの背に乗って故郷に帰って来たとき、彼の両親も友達も自分の家も見つけることが出来なかった。
As he was upset, he opened the box. At the moment, he turned into an old man with white smoke.
彼は気が動転していたので、その箱を開けてしまった。その瞬間、彼は白い煙と共におじいさんに変わってしまいました。
