岩戸まで其日戸隠れ闇で行き
太陽神の天照大神が怒って岩戸の中に隠れた。このため、世は暗闇となったが、神々は岩戸まで、暗闇のなかを行ったに違いない。
The sun goddess Amaterasu became angry and hid herself in a cave. This caused the world to fall into darkness, but the gods must have gone into the darkness to reach the cave.
戸隠れは手の入るまで開くを待ち
外の様子を見るために天照大神は、岩戸をわずかに開いた。神々は、手をこじ入れることができるまで、辛抱強く開くのを待ったに違いない。
Amaterasu opened the rock door slightly to see what was going on outside. The gods must have waited patiently for it to open long enough for them to pry their hands through.
家のない方へ戸隠れほうりなげ
開いた岩戸を神々は遠くまで放り投げた。家の有無を確認し、安心、安全に投げたに違いない。
The gods threw the open rock door far away. They must have checked to see if there was a house and then threw it safely.
