天蓋や爪を返して又泣かせ
まったく意味不明であったが、解説を読んで納得。そういうことね。
母親は、亡くなった娘の着物を、天蓋（てんがい。仏像の上に吊るす傘状の装飾）に利用して欲しいと、お寺に寄付した。すると、着物の裾から琴爪が出て来たので、お寺はこれを母親に返した。琴爪を見た母親は、在りし日の娘を思い返して、また泣く。
It didn't make any sense to me, but after reading the explanation I understood it. I see.
The mother donated late daughter's kimono to the temple, with the hope that it would be used as a canopy (an umbrella-shaped decoration hung over a Buddhist statue). Then, a kotozume came out from the hem of the kimono, and the temple returned it to the mother. When the mother sees kotozume, she thinks back to her daughter's past and cries again.
我が子を亡くした悲しみを形見で表現するものとしては、次の句もあり。
