A work from 1933. In winter, a farming woman crouched down and hugged the child she had brought with her.
I wonder if her husband was drafted into the military, or if he doesn't work. When I hear the word crumble, I can imagine the harsh situation faced by a woman with a young child. By the way, if this child were still alive, he would now be in the latter stages of his senior year, over 90 years old.
He probably won't remember, and won't be able to tell by looking at his mother's grave. The feelings of a mother as she holds her child in a crumbling manner cannot be captured in the 17 characters of the haiku.
