今日はエジプト最終日だった。
Today was my last day in Egypt.
ピラミッドがあるギザ地区からカイロ市内に移動したら、雰囲気がガラッと変わった。
When I moved from the Giza area where the pyramids are located to Cairo city, the atmosphere changed completely.
まさに、大都市の雰囲気がそこにはあった。
It was exactly the atmosphere of a big city.
いろんな人種が混じり合い、各々が生きるために、必死に動いている様子だった。
People of all races were mixed together, and each seemed to be working desperately to survive.
カイロタワーとタフリール広場、ダウンタウンを歩いた後、タクシーでハンハリーニ(お土産が並ぶスポット)まで行った。
After walking around Cairo Tower, Tahrir Square, and downtown, I took a taxi to Khan Harini (a spot where souvenirs are lined up).
ハンハリー二はギザ地区とは違って、無理にお金をせびってくる事はなく、ゆっくり買い物ができた。
Unlike the Giza area, Khan Harini was not forced to ask for money, so I was able to shop at my own pace.
必要なものを買ったので、次の南アフリカに行くためにカイロ空港に戻った。
After buying what I needed, I returned to Cairo airport to go to South Africa.
ここからが嬉しい出会いだった。
This was where I had a happy encounter.
空港で私がイヤホンをしてYouTubeを見ていると肩を叩かれた。
At the airport, I was watching YouTube with headphones on when someone tapped me on the shoulder.
黒人の男性が私に何か言っている。
A black man was saying something to me.
イヤホンを外して聞いてみると、
I took off my headphones and asked him,
「Wi-Fiはどうやってつなぐのか」と私に聞いている。
He asked me, "How do I connect to Wi-Fi?"
私が彼の携帯を扱い、Wi-Fiをつないであげた。
I handled his phone and connected to Wi-Fi for him.
彼は1時間ほど繋げなかったそうで、とても感謝された。
He said he couldn't connect for about an hour, so he was very grateful.
話してみると、彼はスーダン人で、3つの会社を経営しているらしい。
When we talked, I found out that he was Sudanese and ran three companies.
彼は、「1人でカイロに出張に来ていて家族と離れているから早く会いたい」と言っていた。
He said, "I'm in Cairo on a business trip alone and I'm away from my family, so I want to meet you soon."
そして、彼はこんなことも言っていた。
And he also said this.
『最近、息子にタブレットを買ってあげたら、夜中の3時位までゲームをするから取り上げたい。でも、彼との関係を崩したくないので、強く言えない。』
"I bought my son a tablet recently, and he plays games until about 3am, so I want to take it away. But I don't want to ruin my relationship with him, so I can't say it forcefully."
、、、今は全世界の親同じことで悩んでいるんだなー。笑
... I guess parents all over the world are worried about the same thing now. lol
ゲームとSNS恐るべし。
Games and social media are scary.
この話にはめっちゃ笑った。
This story made me laugh so much.
そして、「日本の多くの親も同じことで悩んでいるよ」と教えてあげた。
And I told him, "Many parents in Japan are worried about the same thing."
私の便まで3時間くらい待ち時間があったが、彼のおかげで、あっという間に時間が過ぎた。
I had to wait about three hours for my flight, but thanks to him, the time flew by.
こういった出会いも旅の醍醐味だ。
These kinds of encounters are also the best part of traveling.
最後に、彼は私にカプチーノおごってくれた。
Finally, he treated me to a cappuccino.
おいしいカプチーノと素敵な時間をありがとう。
Thank you for the delicious cappuccino and the wonderful time.
さぁ、明日から南アフリカだ。
Well, tomorrow I'm off to South Africa.
どんな出会いがあるか楽しみだ。
