While there are exceptions to everything, when comparing the ideas of privacy and personal knowledge, America and Japan have very different attitudes on how these are viewed. This can be seen greatly in how people talk to each other.
Americans are know for being very outgoing, sociable, easy to talk to. Many of us love meeting new people, and finding out about others. We aren't trying to be intrusive, we just have a genuine interest in others - especially in Japan!
一概にそうとは言い切れないけれど、プライバシーとか人がそれぞれ持つ知識をどう見るかについては、アメリカと日本は全く違う考え方を持っているね。これは、人との話し方にすごく現れています。
アメリカ人は、気さくで社交的で、話しやすいという性格で知られている。僕達は人との出会いや、人のことをよく知るということが好き。ずうずうしくしているつもりではなくて、ただただ他の人に興味があるんだ。特に日本ではね！
