昨日の朝、日本に戻りました。
I returned to Japan early yesterday morning.
メルボルンは真夏で、毎日25度～30度だったので、東京の寒さが身にしみます。
It's the middle of summer in Melbourne, with temperatures in the 25 to 30 degrees range, so Tokyo's cold weather is piercing.
メルボルンではパートナーの家族とクリスマスイブを過ごしました。
In Melbourne, I spent Christmas Eve with my partner's family.
オーストラリア人はアクティブで、外に出て体を動かすのが好きな人が多いというのが私の印象です。
My impression is that Australians are active people, many of whom enjoy engaging in physical activities outdoors.
パートナーの家族は集る度に、クッブ（Kubb）というスウェーデン発祥の薪投げゲームを遊びます。
Every time my partner's family spends time together, they play a Swedish game called Kubb that involves throwing wooden blocks.
ルールは結構簡単なんですが、私は初めて遊んだので慣れるのに時間がかかりました
The rules are quite simple, but it took some time for me to get used to the game since I had never played it before.

外でクッブを遊んだあと、プレゼント交換をしました。
After playing Kubb outside, we exchanged gifts.
私はオーストラリア・ポッサム（フクロネズミ）の毛で作られた素敵なスカーフをもらいました。
I got a lovely scarf made of Australian possum fur.
シークレットサンタだったので、誰からプレゼントをもらったのはわかりませんが…パートナーのお母様じゃないかな～と私は思っています。
It was a Secret Santa, so I don't know who gave me my gift...but my guess is that it's from my partner's mother.
肝心のディナーの写真を撮るのを忘れてしまったのですが…デザートは手作りプリンやなぜか蒸籠に盛り付けられたクッキーなど
I forgot to take a pic of the highlight of the night -- the dinner. For dessert, we had delicious sweets like homemade pudding and cookies that were served in a bamboo steamer for some reason.
オーストラリアはアメリカと同じ英語圏ですが、文化やコミュニケーションのスタイルがかなり違って、色々な気づきや学びがありました。
Australia is an English-speaking country like the U.S., but the culture and communication style there were very different, and I had many realizations and learnings.
