今、母が日本に遊びに来ています。
My mother is visiting Japan right now.
ということで先日、日光へ、1日半のプチバケーションに行きました。私は日光は初めてでした。
We went on a 1.5-day mini vacation to Nikko. It was my first time there.
日光江戸村では、私は女剣士、母は武家娘の格好に。
At Nikko Edo Village, I dressed up as a female samurai, and my mother dressed as a "samurai daughter."
初めて江戸村を訪れましたが、なんて素敵なコンセプト！
This was my first visit, but what a wonderful concept!
英語でのサポートなども充実していて、観光客でいっぱいでした。
Many things were also available in English, and there were many non-Japanese tourists there.

夜は鬼怒川温泉あさやホテルにお世話になりました。
We stayed at the Kinugawa Onsen Asaya Hotel.
あっという間にもうクリスマス間近ですね…
Time flies, and it's almost Christmas...
久しぶりに温泉に入りました。
I enjoyed a hot spring for the first time in quite a long time.
温泉という概念といいますか、文化は好きなのですが、やはりアメリカで育ったので、お風呂に入るという習慣がなく、温泉に浸かっても長くて5分しかもちません
I like the concept of onsen, and the cultural history behind it, but because I grew up in the states, I'm not so used to taking baths...which means that I can last no longer than 5 minutes in a hot spring, sob.
最初の１～２分は気持ちいいんですが、体質的に、かなり早い段階で熱くて辛くて早く出たいと思ってしまいます。
The first 1-2 minutes feel soooo good, but physically, I feel the water is too hot and excruciating after a few minutes, and I have the sudden urge to just get out.
温泉に長い間使っていられる人、あこがれます
I envy those who can relax in an onsen for a long period of time.
何かコツはあるのでしょうか…。
I wonder if there is a trick to lasting longer in a hot spring...
そして次の日、おみくじを引いたのですが、なんと…
And the next day, I drew an omikuji (fortune-telling), but...
凶でした…！
I got one of the worst possible options I could draw!
「願望かないがたし」、「待人来らず」と、かなりシビアですね。
The details of this fortune-telling are pretty harsh...It said that "your wishes will likely not be fulfilled" and "the person you are waiting for will not come."
まぁでも no ginger...しょうがないですね
めげずに頑張ろうと思います！自分の成功や失敗は自分の責任！
Who cares about superstitions...I control my own life!
