Since it's almost Halloween, our company's office is also decorated with Halloween goodies...
年内に引っ越ししたくて、最近バタバタしてます
I wanna move before the year ends, so I've been scrambling to find a new place
でも外国人はやっぱり未だに日本では部屋を借りづらいですね
But non-Japanese foreigners still have a lot of trouble renting rooms in Japan.
「外国人不可」と書いてあると、「アメリカだったらこれは差別問題だ…」と思ってしまいます
When ads say "no foreigners", I can't help but think how racist this would be in the states.

「10年以上前にはなりますが、『留学生新聞』によると、過去に外国人留学生の96%が入居拒否に遭った経験があり、家を借りるまでに平均16件の不動産業者を訪問したというデータが発表されました。
「入居拒否」されたことのある外国人の友達も多いので、未だに「外国人だと言葉が通じない」「トラブルが多そう」と思われてしまうのでしょうか。
I have many non-Japanese friends who have experienced being denied residency. I suppose the prejudice against non-Japanese "gaijin," like "cannot communicate" or "may cause trouble," still exists.
最近知り合ったイギリス人の夫婦は、二人とも大手コンサル会社の日本支社に転職して夏の終わりに東京に来ましたが、良い物件が見つかってもオーナーに断られ、一カ月以上ホテル暮らしだったそうです。
I recently met a British couple who both relocated to Tokyo for a steady job at a global consulting firm, but after arriving here at the end of the summer, spent over a month finding a good place (they were repeatedly denied by the owners) and ended up staying at a hotel for an extended period of time.
まぁでも周りの外国人の友達に聞くとだいぶよくなってきたようですけどね、特に都会では…地方のほうが難しそう。
But I guess things have gotten a lot better, relatively speaking...especially in the cities, although I'm sure it's still very difficult in the suburbs and rural areas.
２０２０年、グローバル化、…少しずつ変わっていくのでしょうか
2020, globalization of Japan...Hopefully, things continue to change.
とにかく私は早く引っ越し先を見つけたい…！
