Second day in Shizuoka today.
昨日に引き続き今日も曇り
しかも朝からポツポツと雨が…
Cloudy skies for the second time in a row, and to make things worse, it even started drizzling in the morning...

茶畑は綺麗だけど！スタッフさんいわく、これを見ると「静岡に来たなー」って感じるようです。
But the tea fields are beautiful! According to the crew, this is the sight to make you feel like you're in Shizuoka.

晴れてたらもっと綺麗だったんだろうなー！最近雨女化しています
I bet this would have been even more beautiful had it been sunny! I think I'm bringing rain with me wherever I go these days...
ちなみに、「雨男」や「雨女」を直訳する方が、うちの英語道場でもたまにいますが、これは日本のコンセプトなので（もともとは雨を呼ぶ妖怪のことを雨女と呼んでいたそうですね）
Btw, the idea of someone's presence being the cause of rain is a uniquely Japanese concept (it appears this concept goes back to an old belief/Japanese mythology about a monster/supernatural creature that brought rain)
なので、「私は雨男です」と言いたくて、「I am rain man」と言ってしまった生徒さんが以前いましたが…
So, when a student once said "I am rain man" in one of our lessons, I had to stop him.
「rain man」は「障碍者」（由来：ダスティン・ホフマン主演の映画レインマン）という意味なので、言いたいことと全く違うことを言ってしまったという…
Since "rain man" means "the mentally disabled" (the term originates from the movie Rainman Dustin Hoffman), you end up saying something completely different.
他にもありますよね！直訳すると全然違う意味の英語になってしまう言葉やフレーズ
（よくあるのが「電話番号教えて」を「Can you teach me your number?」と言ってしまう。正しくは「Can you tell (or give) me your number?」 or 「Can I have your number?」）

I had a fresh seafood bowl for lunch!
まぐろのカマ揚げがついてきました！！
My lunch came with fried tuna kama (the meat around the gills).
やっと静岡らしいランチを食べれました
I was finally able to have a lunch I can only have in Shizuoka.
シラスは美味しかったけどやっぱり苦手だ…昔から苦手です。
I've always been a little iffy about whitebait...my mini-aversion to it is nothing new.
美味しいんだけどね…何回も目が合うから、罪悪感が…。
Don't get me wrong, it's quite delicious. But the guilt accrues each time my eyes meet theirs...
新幹線NOW！今夜東京に戻ります…
On a bullet train back to Tokyo now!
静岡、また今度ゆっくり観光したい
I want to visit Shizuoka again to do some proper sightseeing!
