よくあるのが、TOEICやTOEFLで高得点、ハイレベルの英語を話せる方ですが、日本語も英語も話せる私でも集中しないと何を言っているのか聞き取れない…。
Oftentimes, I have spoken with students who are at a high English level with high TOEIC or TOEFL scores, but even for someone like me who speaks both English and Japanese, I have trouble hearing what they say unless I focus a lot.
ほとんどの場合、原因は「英語での人格」や「英語脳」が出来上がっていないのと、イントネーションや話し方のリズムが日本語っぽく、聞き取りにくいのです。
Most of the time, the reason for this is that their "English persona" and "English brain" are undeveloped or underdeveloped, and their intonation and rhythm are so like Japanese that their speech is difficult to hear and process.
そこでお勧めしているのが、英語のロールモデルを見つけること。
So what I recommend to such people is to find an English role model.
例えば、日本語での人格がどうあれ、英語でのキャラクターを作るときに、「積極的・自信のある人」という人格を目指す方には
For example, regardless of what your Japanese personality is, if your English character goal is to be an aggressive and confident person, perhaps your role model can be Barack Obama or Amy Cuddy.
