英語を使うのに、正しい英語にこだわらないお店はよくわからないです。普通に辞書を使えば正しいワードがわかるのに。ただのデコレーションなのかな？
I don't understand shops and restaurants that use English but aren't concerned about using English correctly. All you need to do is use a dictionary. I suppose it's just decor to them?
On that thought...
毎年「Word of the Year（2016年のワード）」を発表するメリアム ウェブスター辞典。
Every year, Merriam Webster announces its "word of the year."
英語版流行語大賞ともいえるのかな。
Kind of like the buzzword of the year.
今年のワードは「surreal」。
And, the word of the year is -- surreal.
日本語では「シュール」ですが、英語の「surreal」と日本語の「シュール」はニュアンスが違うような気がします。
It's shuulu in Japanese, which is different in nuance than the English surreal.
「surreal」とは、超現実、夢のような不合理な現実、信じられない現実。
Surreal means, marked by the intense irrational reality of a dream; unbelievable reality.
今年のイギリスのEU離脱やトランプさんの勝利から、「surreal」というワードを口にする人が多くなり、「2016年のワード」に。
The word "surreal" has become an oft-repeated word since Brexit and Trump's victory, making it the word of the year.
日本語の「シュール」の意味は、私自身もよくわかってないですが、「シュールな笑い」や「シュールな光景」などよくテレビでも聞きますよね。「ちょっと変わった」という意味なのでしょうか。
I don't quite understand what the Japanese shuulu means. From what I can gather from the TV shows I've seen here, I guess it means "different from the norm"?
ちなみに、Oxford辞典の2016年のワードは「post-truth（ポスト真実・ポスト事実：事実に基づかない主張がまかり通る政治）」で、Dictionary.comのは「xenophobia（ゼノフォビア・外国人嫌悪・外国人恐怖症）」でした。
Btw, Oxford's word of the year was "post-truth" and Dictionary.com's was "xenophobia."
確かに今年を表しているワードですね。
