アメリカの大学生活についてよく聞かれるんですが…
I'm often asked about college life in the states...
大学や生徒によるとは思うんですが、私や私の周りは平日は授業・勉強・クラブ活動・ボランティアを頑張って、週末はパーティやイベントをエンジョイする時間でした。
I'm sure this depends on the college and student, but for me and those around me, weekdays were reserved for classes, studying, club activities, and volunteering, whereas weekends were all about parties and events.
ブラウン大学日本文化クラブの忘年会！

パーティーや飲み会は基本的に家や寮で…外食はデートとか、友達数人と食事が多かったかな
Parties were usually held at home or in your dorm room...Eating out was for dates or dinners with a small group of friends.
たまーにナイトクラブにも行ってましたが…私はクラブは結構苦手なので音楽だけ楽しんですぐ帰っちゃうタイプでした
I occasionally went to night clubs, but since they're really not my thing, I would dance for a bit then go home early...
でも遊びだけじゃなかったですよ！平日はだいたい真面目に勉強してましたし、クラブ活動とかも。
But it wasn't all play! Weekdays were usually spent studying or engaging in club activities.
私はブラウンの社交ダンスチームに所属していたので、よくキャンパス内のイベントでパフォーマンスしてました。
I was in the Brown Ballroom Dance Team, so I would often perform at various on-campus events.
でも一年生の時は寮を選べないので、部屋が特に狭い！
But because freshmen can't choose the dorms they live in, the rooms are often quite small!
狭いスペースにいろいろな人が集まると、普段話さない人と話したりできて、色々な人と仲良くなることができました。
But the small rooms forced me to talk to people I wouldn't ordinarily talk to, allowing me to make friends with different people.
疲れたらあいてる床スペースをみつけて一休み
If you get tired, find a space on the floor and take a rest!
二年生になったらある程度寮や部屋を選べるので、ちょっと広くなります！
Once you're a sophomore, to a certain extent, you get to choose the dorm/room you want to live in, so the rooms become a bit more spacious!
寮生活はこれから一生することがないんだろうなと思うと、ちょっと寂しい
It makes me slightly sad to think that I will probably never experience dorm life again.
でも大学生活って、私がいた十年前と今と、また全然違うんだろうな…。
I suppose college life has changed pretty dramatically in the ten years since I was a college student...
