なんか、 Tom が かわいそう
なことに なってますが・・・
A Woman's Mind
rub someone the wrong way （ 神経を逆なでする ）
be itching to... （ ・・・したがっている ） tenacious （ 粘り強い ）
fault someone for （ 人を ～ の理由で責める ）
Tom : Hi James ! Why are you frowning?
（ ハイ、 ジェームズ。 なに、 しかめっつら、 してんの？ ）
James: Hi Tom ! Well, I'm annoyed with my sister. She's itching to
introduce Japanese girls to me whome she wants to become
a sister-in-law to her. She is trying to get a sister and a
friend at the same time.
（ ハイ、 トム。 それがね、 姉さんがやっかいなんだよ。 自分が義理の姉妹に
なりたいと思う、 日本女性を、 僕に紹介したがってるんだ。 姉妹と友達を、
同時にゲットしようとしてるらしい。 ）
Tom : Oh, I can imagine. But you shouldn't fault her for that, she
just wants to help make your life better.
（ ああ、 なるほどね。 でも、君のためを思ってしてくれてるんだから、 それを
責めちゃダメだと思うよ。 ）
James: She seems to be planning to make me transfer to Japan.
That rubs me the wrong way.
（ どうも 僕を日本に転勤させようと、 してるらしいよ。 それが僕の神経を
逆なでするんだよね。 ）
Tom : That's why she is ready to introduce Japanese girls to you?
（ だから、日本女性を、君に紹介しようとしてるんだね？ ）
James: That's right ! She's so tenacious, and I've been defeated by
her strategies since my childhood.
（ そのとおり！ 彼女はとても粘り強いし、子供の時からずっと、 彼女の手管には
やられっぱなしなんだ。 ）
Tom : You should give up. It's waste of time to resist a woman's
mind. They have many arms like trick, trap, plot, tears, and
perseverance.
（ それは、 あきらめた方がいいよ。 女性の意思に逆らおうとしたって、
時間のムダだからね。 彼女たちには、 たくさんの武器があるしね。
ごまかしに、ワナ、 策略や、 涙、 そして忍耐力とかね。 ）
James: Oh, dear ! You must have had suffered a lot in their hands
in the past !
（ ああ、 かわいそうに！ 君はきっと過去に、 彼女達に ずいぶんひどい目に
合わされてきたんだね！ ）
