Dear all,
I have a favor that I kindly would like to ask you.
Right now at this moment, there are people who are working, risking their lives to save our country, our people, you, and your family.
Please keep them in your prayers. Please pray for the successful completion of their operation to contain the crisis at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant.
Those self-sacrificing workers of Japan’s Ground Self-Defense Force who have been tasked with stabilizing the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant are all volunteers. All of them are over 55 years old. They volunteered for the operation because they have finished raising their children and they say there is no going back. There are fifty of those volunteers.
According to the article of Jiji Press Co., Tokyo Electric Power Company asked for the volunteers from all the electric power companies and other cooperative companies in the country. They asked for the experts in nuclear power generation to join a suicide corps.
One man who has worked for Chugoku Electric Power for over forty years volunteered. He calmly said to his family, “An operation like this should be done by old stagers like me. I have finished raising my children, and I have one more year till I retire.” His wife and children couldn’t say no to him, knowing his solid determination. His daughter says she has never seen her father’s face as gentle as it was at that time. The next morning, he left for Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant as if he were just going to work like he always had. Total of twenty people just like him volunteered.
These workers are exposed to radiation during their operation. The normal legal limit for emergency workers at nuclear facilities is 100 mSv. Japan raised the limit to 250 mSv because that is what the workers wanted. They knew they would reach the limit of 100 mSv in a matter of few minutes but they cannot work efficiently within a few minutes. Even though they are aware of the risk to which they are exposed, they still wished for the limit to be raised so they can continue working.
A very critical situation was prevented because of them. Without them, our situation could have been different. We might not be spending precious moments with our friends and families. The survival rate of all the living organisms in a 300 km (about 185 mile) radius was next to zero percent. We have the time we have right now thanks to the sacrifices of those workers.
However, the CEOs stayed in Tokyo, far away from the nuclear plant, and they gave out the information about the plant only bit by bit to protect themselves.
Please pray the workers complete their operation successfully and that their tasks for tomorrow will be completed successfully. Please, please pray for their safety.
