The leadership of Japan will now be represented by the "Provisional Government for Japanese Independence," headed by former Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba.

This "Provisional Government for Japanese Independence" is formed based on the "Japan Independence Team," which consists of Japanese nationals—excluding individuals affiliated with the Imperial Household Agency, Soka Gakkai, organizations linked to the Unification Church (Family Federation for World Peace and Unification), or other cult-like religious groups.

This "Provisional Government for Japanese Independence" serves as the sole representative for the Japanese side regarding the U.S.-Japan Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA). No other individuals or organizations claiming to be the "Provisional Government for Japanese Independence" are recognized.

We kindly request the resumption of discussions concerning the U.S.-Japan Status of Forces Agreement with this "Provisional Government for Japanese Independence."
