東海大学、パナソニックの太陽電池で世界最大級ソーラーカーレース3連覇に挑戦

東海大学は、同大学のソーラーカーチームが、世界最大級のソーラーカーレース「ブリヂストン・ワールド・ソーラー・チャレンジ2013」に参戦すると発表。パナソニックのHIT太陽電池とリチウムイオン電池を採用したソーラーカー「Tokai Challenger(東海チャレンジャー)」号で、同大会の3連覇に挑戦する。

太陽電池で発電した電気を蓄えるリチウムイオン電池にも、パナソニック製を採用。アメリカのテスラ社の電気自動車にも搭載されている円筒型の「NCR18650B」を432本搭載しており、重さは規定の21kgよりもわずかに少ない20.952kgとなった。
