米西海岸カントリー/ブルーグラス・ロックの名弦楽器奏者/マルチ・インストゥルメンタリスト/SSW「Herb Pedersen」リーダー作と云えば '76年1作目 "Southwest" (Epic PE 34225)が「Phoe～be」"定番" LP ('08年5月「Chris Hillman」とのデュオ来日の際、LPジャケにサイン頂戴しました！あのライヴは本当ヨカッタなぁ...)♪

ずっと未聴だった (汗) この '77年次作LP "Sandman" をつい最近安価GETして結構気に入っています♪

前作の延長線上ウェスト・コースト・カントリー・ロックをベースに、よりメロウな質感を織り交ぜたサウンドが絶妙で心地好いですね♪

B面ラスト「Ralph Stanley」作ブルーグラス古典曲 ‘If I Lose’ をグッとテンポを落としたゴスペル調フォーキー・ロック・アレンジで、あの「Lowell George」の "唄伴" スライド名客演が絡んでくるのは何とも余韻が残ってたまらないなぁ...↓
