倉庫火災
5月30日、フィリピンの首都マニラで
倉庫火災があり、女性８人が死亡した。
地元警察によると、倉庫は外側から施錠されており
監禁状態で働かされていたとみて
倉庫所有者の中国系フィリピン人の実業家を拘束して事情を聴いている。
死亡した８人はいずれも
フィリピン中南部の島から働きに来ていた19～24歳の女性だった。

アメリカ紙ウォール・ストリート・ジャーナルによると
韓国人男性とフィリピン人女性の間に生まれた
韓国人２世「コピノ（Ｋｏｐｉｎｏ）」が
２－３年の間に１万人から３万人に膨れ上がり
問題になっていると報じた。
記事は、「過去５年間にフィリピンを訪れた韓国人観光客数が大幅に増加し
コピノの数もこれまでの１万人水準から
数年間で３万人に増えている」と指摘した。
しかしフィリピンで深刻化するコピノ問題について
韓国政府もフィリピン政府も支援策を講じていないという。
フィリピン政府の統計によると
２０１３年にフィリピンを訪れた外国人観光客は４７０万人で
うち韓国人は４分の１を占める。
外国人観光客の４人に１人が韓国人ということになる。
特に、過去５年間で韓国人観光客数は約２倍も増加した。
韓国男性の場合
多くが英語を学ぶためにフィリピンに留学した学生
韓国に家庭を持つ事業家、買春目的の旅行者などだ。
フィリピン女性と交際し、妊娠すると連絡を経つケースが多く
経済的に支援を続ける人は僅かという。

5月24日、フィリピン代表がトルクメニスタン代表を2－0で破り
グループリーグB組で1位通過した。
準決勝ではモルディブ代表と対戦する。
2002年のFIFAワールドカップ・日韓大会におけるアジア予選では
今井雅隆が監督として代表を率いた。
フィリピンサッカーの衰退や相次ぐ成績不振を理由に
FIFAワールドカップやAFCアジアカップには出場していないなかったが
近年はプレミアリーグでプレーするニール・エザリッジなど
海外で生まれ育ったフィリピン系の選手を積極的に勧誘しており
2010年の東南アジアサッカー選手権では
初の準決勝進出するなど強化が進んでいる。
AFCチャレンジカップ2012では自己最高位の3位になり
フィリップ・ヤングハズバンドが6得点で、同大会得点王を獲得した。
