マニラの戦いとは
1945年2月3日、マニラ市内に進行したアメリカ軍と日本軍の
激しい市街戦が三週間にわたって展開された戦いです。
国会議事堂をはじめ主要な建造物はことごとく破壊され
マニラは焼け野原となりました。
日本軍は「男子は情報を得たのち全部殺す事、逃げる女子も殺す事」という
方針をとり、女子供までも殺戮に巻き込まれていった。
更に、アメリカの無差別爆撃も、市民を殺傷したという
フィリピン市民の犠牲者は、10万と言われている。
日本軍は敗れ、三年間に及んだ日本のフィリピン支配は幕を閉じた。
