米テレビ局の人気ドラマ「マダム・セクレタリー」の予告編で
主人公の女性国務長官が何らかのセクハラを受け
その報復としてフィリピン大統領を殴るという場面だ。

ドラマ内の大統領は本物と比べるとかなり若々しいが
フィリピンの伝統的な正装であるバロン・タガログを着用し
髪形や顔の雰囲気などから
ドゥテルテ氏をほうふつさせるという。

在米フィリピン大使館は
「ドラマはフィクションだが、我々の国のリーダーに対して
非常に無礼な描写」だとし
「フィリピンは長年にわたって男女平等に力を入れている」との
声明を出し、テレビ局に是正を求めた。

フィリピンのドゥテルテ大統領が
「二重国籍」問題が発覚したヤサイ外相にに代わって
外相代行にマナロ外務次官を任命し、ヤサイ氏の退任が確定した。

ヤサイ氏は１９８０年代に

米国の市民権を取得していたにもかかわらず
「取得したことはない」とウソの説明をしていた。

フィリピンでは大統領から閣僚任命された後
上下両院の議員で構成する

委員会の承認を受けなければならないが
委員会は、全会一致で否決したしたという。

大手人材派遣会社に採用された
２０代から４０代のフィリピン人女性２５人。

今回来日した２５人の女性たちは
フィリピンにある研修施設で、２か月余りにわたって
日本語や日本の習慣を学んだということで
来月から神奈川県内の家庭で
掃除や料理などのサービスを始める予定です。

バターン死の行進

第２次世界大戦中、フィリピンで
１９４２年に日本軍が米兵捕虜らを
１００キロ余り離れた収容所まで歩かせ、多数の死者を出した
「バターン死の行進」。

元米兵捕虜で「バターン死の行進」生存者であった
レスター・テニー氏（９６歳）が
２月２４日、カリフォルニア州の介護施設で死去した。

元米兵捕虜らでつくる
「全米バターン・コレヒドール防衛兵記念協会」の会長を務め
日本政府に謝罪を要求し
２０１０年に来日した際には、岡田克也外相（当時）が謝罪した。

謎の生物

2月22日、フィリピンのディナガット諸島カグディアナオの浜辺に
白くて毛むくじゃらの謎生物が海岸に打ち上げられ
地元住民が集まり大騒ぎとなった。
