全然ブログやってなかったけど、あることをきっかけに再会してみたいと思いました。
それは先日のロンドン出張。
英語が話せないと全くコミュニケーションが取れないわけで・・・。
でも時間もないし、好きなことはやりたいし・・・。
と思った際にやっぱ好きなことやりながら英語の勉強したいなと！
つーことで、できる限り毎日一曲、洋楽の歌詞を入れて、
洋楽の意味を理解しながら、聞き取れるようにしたいと思います。

Black Eyed Peasの"Let's Get It Started"です。
最近名曲、ゆったりした80年代、90年代の曲が続いたのでHip Hopやってみました。まあBlack Eyed PeasはかなりPopですけど。
この曲の説明から、Hip Hopは音重視なとこがあるので曲の解釈は簡単なんですけど、一文一文の意味が取りにくかったりします。今回も訳については参考程度で。
意味は和訳のとおり。で、この曲は実は原曲ではありません。というのも元のタイトルは"Let's Get Retarted"。アルバムElephunkにはこっちが収録されています。なぜ、変えたのかというと、"retarted"が差別的な意味を持っているから。それで曲の最初で「この曲に差別的な意味はない」と歌っているんでしょうね。
シングルカットされる際にこの変更がなされたんですが、NBAの公式ソングに採用されたことも関係しているでしょう。
でここでしたいのは、Black Eyed Peasの話。このアルバムElephunkは今のメンバーがそろって出した初のアルバムなのです。この3rdアルバムから参加したのがファーギー。アングロサクソンの今やアメリカの女子が最もあこがれるセレブ。彼女の声はほんとにいいアクセントですよね。
そのほかにメンバーが三人。アフリカンアメリカンのウィル・アイ・アム、フィリピンとアフリカンアメリカンの血をひくアップル・デ・アップ、そしてネイティブアメリカンとメキシコの血をひくタブー。民族のサラダボール的グループなのです。
まあ、ツジとしてはそれだけで好きになってしまいそうなんですが、やっぱ曲のつくりも好きです。曲を書くのは主にウィルとアップルなんですが、まあウィルはすごい。
アルバムThe E.N.Dの"Boom Boom Pow"、このローテンションの曲がアメリカでは売れるんですね。2009年に12週連続1位。僕は好きなんですがこれがこんなに売れるのは以外。
でもそこらんをちゃんとウィルはわかって作ってそうなのがすごいなと。
ポップなHip Hopとメンバー構成、これが僕にはストライクなわけです。
