皆さん、12月24日のクリスマス・イブには、エチオピアのクリスマスをご紹介します。日本でのクリスマスを想像すると、エチオピアのクリスマスは驚きの連続でしょう。
これが文化を知る魅力です。
今回、私たちは大使館からのご紹介を受けて、リトルエチオピアレストランで学びました。
エチオピアの料理はオーガニックで健康的ですが、簡単ではありません。
温度や気候、発酵などを考慮して料理されるのは、まさに科学そのものです。
そのため、OHAO料理班には頼りになるお料理先生が現れました。エチオピア料理を教えてくれる料理先生は、リトルエチオピアレストランで認められた実績豊富な東京大学ワールドグルメツアーの皆さまで、子供たちにも理解しやすく説明してくれる予定です。
エチオピア料理の味わいは初めての経験で、食欲をそそります。先生方は子供たちが難しい料理を楽しむことができるように工夫してくださいます。
エチオピア大使館からは、エチオピアの歴史と文化、そしてエチオピアのクリスマスに関するプレゼンテーションが予定されています。
また、クリスマスイブには「国連平和の鐘」の話を聞く幸運な子供たちとなることでしょう。一年に一度、国連総会の前に事務総長が鳴らす鐘にまつわる話は、親から子へと代々語り継がれる真実の価値のある物語です。この話を聞いたら、世界を見る視点が変わるでしょう。
さらに、エチオピア大使館からのご紹介で、エチオピア・アートクラブの方々によるダンスパフォーマンスも予定されており、エチオピアのダンスを子供たちと一緒に楽しむワークショップを行う予定です。また、エチオピアはコーヒーの発見の地でもあり、そのストーリーも子供たちに分かりやすく伝えてくれます。
このイベントは、まるでエチオピアにいるかのような体験ができることでしょう。
12月はSHIBAURA HOUSEでの学びのフェアが最後になります。来年1月からは新しい会場を探していただき、皆様の協力に支えられて続けていくことができることを嬉しく思っています。皆様の歩み寄ってくださるご支援に心から感謝しています。
A Special Day to Enjoy Ethiopian Christmas - The Charms of Ethiopian Culture and Cuisine

On December 24th, we will introduce Ethiopian Christmas, which might be quite surprising when you imagine experiencing Christmas in Japan. This truly emphasizes the beauty of getting to know different cultures.
This time, we had the opportunity to learn from Little Ethiopia Restaurant, thanks to the information provided by the embassy. Ethiopian cuisine is organic, healthy, yet not very simple. It involves the science of considering factors like temperature, climate, and fermentation. This is where our OHAO Cooking Team found a savior. The cooking instructor teaching Ethiopian cuisine is already experienced and recognized by Little Ethiopia Restaurant, with prior participation in Tokyo University's World Gourmet Tours, which is a group of university students specializing in cooking. They will also explain things in a way that is easy to understand for children.
The flavors of Ethiopian cuisine are a new experience and quite appetizing. Our instructors have thoughtfully prepared the dishes to ensure that children can enjoy cooking them.
The Ethiopian Embassy plans to present on Ethiopian history, culture, and Ethiopian Christmas.
Furthermore, lucky children will have the chance to hear the story of the "United Nations Peace Bell" on Christmas Eve. This story, associated with the bell rung by the Secretary-General at the opening of the United Nations General Assembly once a year, is a truly valuable tale that is passed down from generation to generation in families. We believe that hearing this story will change the way children see the world.
Additionally, a dance performance recommended by the Ethiopian Embassy will be conducted by the Ethiopian Art Club. They are planning a workshop where children can dance and enjoy Ethiopian dance moves, something not experienced every day. Also, Ethiopia is the birthplace of coffee, and they will share this story in a way that children can easily understand.
This event will make you feel as if you are in Ethiopia.
December marks the last Learning Fair to be held at SHIBAURA HOUSE. Starting from January next year, we will be looking for a new venue, and we are grateful for the support that allows us to continue. We sincerely appreciate the support from everyone.
