Nosalin’s  February Blog

Hello!

How are you?  We are all fine.

   (Hirugano Highland)

<Setsubun day

Souta was scared and cried because demons appeared both at his nursery school and at home on Setsubun day. I was okay with my own children, but I felt sorry for my grandchild and wished that they would stop scaring him.

When my children were young, I used to do traditional events such as Setsubun day, Doll's Festival, and Children’s Day but now I don't do them at all.

<Hiroshima

I went to Hiroshima again because I wanted to attend my grandchild's nursery school visit day. Before, due to the coronavirus pandemic, there was a limit on the number of people allowed to visit on the day, but this time, anyone could go and see them.

Souta calls me "Nosarin " not “ grandma” (lol)  So, he called me loudly in his class room``Nosari-een.'' His friends and his friends' parents all looked around and asked, "Who is Nosarin? What is it?"

Souta was happy and more excited than usual because I was in the nursery school’s room for the first time.    We made a small bus with the paper together. After that in a separate room, my daughter and I watched a 30-minute-long video of their daily routine at the nursery. It was very interesting.

<Plarail

One day, in Hiroshima I met an elderly person who was putting out her grandchildren's toy, Plarail, on trash day. She said to me, ``If you want these Plarails, please take them with you. My grandson has grown up and no longer needs them.'' I would buy more Plarails every time I would go to Hiroshima because Souta would be glad with them.

This time, I got a lot of beautiful Plarails, a railroad crossing, and a station without having to buy them. I was so happy that I shouted "Lucky!"

<Plum blossoms

In February, we can see plum blossoms in many places. We saw many plums in white, milk color, pale pink, and deep pink. When my grandson Souta sees the plum blossoms, he calls them ``pickled plums.'' It seems that his father purposely taught him that plum blossoms are called umeboshi. Children believe in what they are taught, and he confidently, "Nosarin, that's called Umeboshi," he told me.

<Memorial meeting>

It's been a long time since I last went to Ibaraki Nishi High School, where I first worked. At that time, my senior, Mr. Ota, who took care of me, passed away, so the alumni of the rugby club held a ``Memorial party.'' Many alumni and colleagues gathered to mourn his death. I met some familiar people for the first time in a while.

 I was happy that the first student I ever had in my class came to talk to me.

<Complete cure of cold>

I had been coughing nonstop since mid-January and was feeling unwell. I went to the hospital on a rare occasion and was given medicines, but I did not recover. In February, my cough finally stopped and I was able to sleep well, so I started to recover little by little.

As a result of this disease, I started taking morning walks again, and bathed in the morning sun to increase the happy hormone Serotonin. Then, I became more and more energetic.

<Hirugano Highland

During the three-day weekend starting on the 23rd, my eldest daughter ↓and her friend’s family came to Hirugano Lodge to ski.

 A total of 13 people, 7 adults and 6 children, stayed at my lodge. This was a surprise. We only have futons for 7 people. How could they sleep? I want to know, but I don't know yet.

Afterwards, my husband and I went to Hirugano Lodge. There wasn't much snow anymore, so I would walk in the Highlands every morning. The scenery was beautiful and I felt great.

I also went to Hida Takayama. If the weather had been clear , I would have been able to see the peaks of the Japanese Alps(like this ↓), but

 unfortunately I couldn't see them.

By chance, there was a blizzard in Takayama that day. There was more snow than in Hirugano Highland. I had lunch with Ms. T, whom I met on Facebook, and talked about various things.

On the way back, I soaked in the hot springs and saw snowy wind. I love hot springs. I think hot spring is my best health method.

<On the way home

On my way back from Gifu to Osaka, I stopped by a cafe called ``G Square''. There are a lot of wood burning stove in this café.

I found a small kerosene stove shaped like a lamp with a sign that said ``Cheap.'' So, I bought that stove on impulse.

We had lunch at “Pan no Mori” near Sekigahara IC. It was a very nice restaurant. We ate a lot of food.

That’s all.

See you next month.
