先日、WSET 3 in SAKEで一緒だったクラスメイトが連絡をくれました。
彼女はWSET試験に一発合格しているのですが、他の日本酒資格にも興味があり、「国際唎酒師」と「SAKE DIPLOMA International」がどんな試験か教えてほしいとのことでした。
パっと浮かんだことを簡単に答えたのですが、
・国際唎酒師は、日本酒をサーブする際の技術に重点がおかれ
・酒ディプロマInternationalは、幅広い知識を社会科の定期試験のように問う試験だ
といったことを伝えました。
私が書いた英文をChatGPTにeditしてもらったのが、こちら。意訳も一緒にどうぞ。
●国際唎酒師
The SSI (Kikisakeshi) test primarily focuses on the art of serving sake. This test assesses your ability to craft scenarios for serving various types of sake, including the order of service, food pairings, and the rationale behind these choices. The questions here tend to be basic and more straightforward compared to those in the WSET.
国際唎酒師試験は主に日本酒をサーブする際の技術に重点がおかれている。実際のテストでは、さまざまなタイプ（熟酒とか爽酒など）の日本酒を提供する場面をセッティングする能力、つまり酒を出す順序、料理とのペアリング、それらを選択した根拠などを説明する力が評価される。WSETの試験に比べれば、質問は基本レベルでシンプル。
●SAKE DIPLOMA International
On the other hand, the JSA Sake Diploma International offers a more comprehensive examination. Preparing for it is similar to studying for a Japanese high school social studies exam! It necessitates memorizing a wealth of information from the textbook, which delves into a broad spectrum of topics. These include the history of sake rice, regional characteristics, production processes, pairing techniques, and even extends to covering shochu. While the textbook, a direct translation from Japanese, provides unique insights that are not available in other materials, its organization can be somewhat challenging to navigate. Nevertheless, I personally found the process of studying for this exam to be quite enriching!
一方、JSA Sake Diploma Internationalでは、より包括的な内容が出題される。まるで日本の高校社会科の試験のよう。教本に書かれた細かい内容を暗記する必要がある。出題は酒米の歴史、地域特性、製造工程、ペアリング、さらに焼酎と広範囲。教本では、他のテキストではカバーされていないトピックもありおもしろいが、日本語から直接翻訳されているため、少しわかりにくいところもあるだろう。とはいえ、私個人的にはこの試験準備は有意義であった。

テストによって出題傾向や対策法が大きく違いますね。
いつか、これにWSET Level 3 in SAKEを加えて比較表を作ってみようと思います。
WSET…あれほど自信のあった筆記試験に不合格だったので（自信のなかったテイスティングは合格）、まずはもう一度勉強し直してからですね。
WSET合格は来年の目標の１つです。
