Abstract

   The Walt Disney Company (Walt Disney) has developed Disneyland in USA, Japan, France, and then they opened Hong Kong Disneyland in 2005. And Shanghai Disneyland is on construction and will open 2016.

   Tokyo Disneyland succeeded in 1983, Walt Disney realized and got confident of attraction of Disneyland. Tokyo Disneyland is managed by Oriental Land Corporation, and Oriental Land pays royalty fee of 10% of sales. Royalty fee is not so profitable, direct management is much more profitable. So Walt Disney wants management right of foreign Disneyland, but Disneyland Paris is low profit rate. Hong Kong Disneyland is also low profit rate. They use the same management system in Hong Kong. The management company is Hongkong International Theme Parks Limited that is a joint venture of Hong Kong Government and Walt Disney. Their stocks are held by Hong Kong Government 57% and Walt Disney 43%. They have 11 people in the board members, 5 people from Hong Kong Government, 4 people from Walt Disney, and 2 people are pert time. The total construction cost was about 30 million dollars, Walt Disney shared just 10%. Creating new Disneyland is low cost to Walt Disney because pays construction fee partially. Hong Kong Disneyland was expected to be successful but not as powerful as Tokyo Disneyland. Shanghai Disneyland will open soon, and Shanghai will gain customers from Hong Kong.
