ニューヨークで初めてバレエ教室に行こうとした時の話↓
スタジオの住所を勘違いしていました。
本当のスタジオの住所まではそこから地下鉄を2回乗り換えて40分程度かかります。
レッスンは60分なので、無事到着しても10分程度しか受講できない可能性がありました。
でも30ドル払っちゃったから、クラスの雰囲気だけでも知れれば良いかなと思い、向かうことにしました。
その途中、地下鉄に降りる階段の前で、ベビーカーを下ろすのを手伝ってくれないかと声をかけられました。
ニューヨークはエスカレーターやエレベーターのない駅が結構あります。
でも、手伝いを求められたのは1年住んでてこれが初めて。
今じゃなかったらいくらでも手伝うのに、と思いながら丁重にお断りし、他の人に頼みました。
地下鉄に乗り込み、早速ことの顛末を先生にメールで送ったら、
数分後、今日の分を次回レッスンに繰り越しできるようにする旨ご返信いただけました。
その後家路に着いたのですが、どっと疲れました。

It would take 40 minutes by subway with twice the transfer from there to the actual address of the studio.
Since the lesson was for 60 minutes, There was a possibility that I would only be able to take it for 10 minutes, even if I arrived there safely. However, I decided to go there because I already paid $30, and It made me think that I wanted to know at least the atmosphere of the class.
On my way, just before the stairs leading down to the subway, I was asked if I could help with carry a stroller.
Many stations still don't have escalators or elevators in New York, But It was for the first time for me to be asked for help.
I thought I could have helped if it were any other time, and turned it down politely, asking other people for help instead.
I got on the subway and sent an e-mail about this story to my teacher, and she replied that I could attend the next class instead.
Afterward, I was on my way home feeling a lot of fatigue.
