Blue Jays’ Munenori Kawasaki busts a few dance moves

Back in May, the Toronto Blue Jays were 10-21 and prospects looked to be bleak for the team considered widely to be World Series shoo-ins.

But all of a sudden, there is new life.

The Jays have rattled off 11 straight wins to stand 38-36, and have put themselves back into contention in the American League East Division.

You would expect the Jays would be on Cloud 9, and it sure looked that way when they took off Sunday for Tampa, Fla., for a chance to extend their streak tonight.

Slugger Jose Bautista captured the new spirit of the team when he took an Instagram video of teammate Munenori Kawasaki dancing in the aisle.

Since the colourful and dynamic Kawasaki was inserted in the starting lineup, he has become a fan favourite and has seemingly energized the team.

The Instagram video, posted under the hastags #Kawasaki #VictoryDance and #LoveThisTeam, shows the wildly popular Kawasaki busting a few moves as his teammates crack up watching the show.

The video was posted on YouTube, and was climbing up the traffic charts.

The victory dance was also noted on Twitter.

Tweeted CBC sports broadcaster Scott Regehr: “Dear Jays: Please keep Kawasaki after Reyes comes back.”

Jose Reyes is due to return to the team shortly, but nobody wants to see the kinetic Kawasaki leave the team.

“He’s a great story,” Jays manager John Gibbons said. “We signed him and he was in spring training and no one knew much about him, but he’s doing things now that just make you feel good.”
