嘘を守ろうとして、全部ばらしてしまう権助の噺
『権助魚』は、聞いているうちに
「最初から正直に言えばいいのに」
と思う噺です。
でも旦那は言えない。
おかみさんには見抜かれる。
そして権助は、正直だからこそ、逆に全部しゃべってしまう。
この権助の面白さは、
わざと壊しているのではなく、
ちゃんとやろうとして壊しているところです。
魚屋で「隅田川で網を打って獲ったような魚」と頼むあたりから、
もう噺は勝っている。
そこへ蒲鉾まで入ってきたら、旦那の作り話が持つわけがありません。
古典落語は、こういう
「人の悪さ」より
「人の要領の悪さ」
を笑いにするところが本当に強いと思います。
Gonsuke Tries to Protect a Lie and Ends Up Telling Everything
Gonsukezakana is funny because the lie itself is weak from the start.
The husband invents it.
The wife sees through it.
And poor Gonsuke is sent to make it look real.
But Gonsuke’s problem is not dishonesty.
It is honesty.
He is too straightforward to handle deception properly.
So when he tries to help, he makes everything worse.
That is why this is such a good Rakugo story.
It is not only about lies.
It is about what happens when a simple, sincere person is forced into a dishonest world.
