（状態動詞:英: Stative verb)とは、動詞のうち、動作や変化でなく状態を表すもの。動作・変化の結果としての状態や、意志的な心理状態を表すものも含む。

Ex)agree, appear, believe, belong, concern(=worry), consist(=to be based on), contain, depend, deserve, disagree, dislike, doubt, feel(=have an opinion), fit, hate, hear, imagine, impress, include, involve, know, like, love, matter, mean, measure(=belong), need, owe, own, prefer, promise, realize, recognize, remember, seem, sound, suppose, surprise, understand, want, weigh(=have weight), wish

Trickyなことに、Some verbs can be both stative and dynamic.
Ex)be ;it's part of your personality./you are stupid
only now,not usually./you are being stupid
have ;stative=own/I have a car
dynamic=part of an expression/I'm having a party
see ;stative=see with your eyes,understand
dynamic=meet,have a relationship with
taste ;stative=has a certain taste/This soup tastes great
dynamic=the action of tasting/The chef is tasting the soup.
think ;stative=have an opinion/I think that coffee is great.
active=consider,have in my head/I'm thinking about my next holiday.
