A countdown party

I wish you a Happy New YEAR!!
I was taken care of last year,I hope the happy new year finds you in excellent spirit!!

あけましておめでとうございます！！
昨年はも大変お世話になりましたが今年もどうぞよろしくお願いします

We counted down for the new year yesterday.
My family had a boisterous party from around 22:00 on December 31th.
I was very surprised  that my host mom said they are 22 people.

そう、2014～2015の年越しパーティーがありました。
ホストマムが、22人のパーティーだよというのでビックリΣ(･ω･ﾉ)ﾉ！
私は「年越しと言えば蕎麦でしょ！！」ということで
ソバを用意しました。

I prepared a buckwheat (Soba) for it. 

I was afraid of whether they prefer it,but I didn't need to mention it.
After all,I couldn't eat it because nothing was left over,although I didn't devise.

カナダの人達にソバがどのくらい受け入れられているのか分からなかったので人数分用意しませんでした。
が！！！
意外とみんな好きみたいで、結局私は食べれませんでした。
ここにきて思いますが、出汁のウケがいいです。



It's a homemade ice wine.　  
アイスワインを作ってきた人もいました。オシャレ！！

My host baked these tarts.
ホストはタルトみたいなのも焼いて

They said " Canadian culture doesn't have some custom for the new year.That's why we take in international ways."
They made a Greek food.

カナダの新年行事は特にない、
その代わりと言っちゃぁなんだけど多国籍の文化を取り入れてるよ
と言ってました。
これはギリシャ料理だったかな。（曖昧）

We tried a way of Spanish .
They usually eat 12 grains of grapes on the new year's eve with ringing each bells.
The tradition consists of eating a grape with each bell strike at midnight of December 31.(Wikipedia)


カウントダウンはスペイン流で。
12回の鐘の音に合わせて１２粒のぶどうを食べるという。
おもしろすぎる！！！
皆で集まってブドウ食べました。結構難しいんですこれが。笑

It's a one of traditional Spanish food. 
これは、スペインの伝統料理のフランというプリンです。

After that, we did a traditional North American cracker. 
This shape is very strange for us,isn't it??

そのあと、クラッカーが出てきました。
これは北米の文化らしいです。
クラッカーです。この証書みたいな筒。

We have to ｃross our arms.

しかもただのクラッカーじゃないんです。
こんなふうに手を交差させて隣の人と一緒にひくんです。
奇妙な集会のような光景。

It has a paper crown,a piece of paper and a small gift in inside.

中からは紙の王冠と紙切れと小さなプレゼントが入っています。
紙切れには運勢なのかシャレなのかよく分からないことが書いていました。

In brief, the party was splendid.

とりあえず、とっても楽しい年越しパーティーでした。
日本でこんなに年越しから大勢で集まったことがないので貴重な体験でした。
多国籍が集まるとさらに楽しいです♪
