事前に物語の背景をしっかり叩き込んでくださった。

夫を支えながら、ソウル、東京、パリ、ニューヨークを渡り歩き、
自身もキャリアを積み上げながら、パートナーの才能を開花させていく。
宋さんとの出会いもあって、この数年、韓国ドラマばかり観てきた私は、
もっと派手な感情のぶつかり合いのような展開を予期していたのだが、
一枚の絵画を見ているような、静かで美しいストーリーに、良い意味で驚かされた。
たった4人の出演者だけで、複雑な時代背景と感情が、すべて伝えられる。
中央に置かれた傾斜のついた二つの台が、前後や上下に交差するところで、
時代の入れ替わりが表現されている舞台演出には、一切無駄がない。
ピアノとバイオリンの生演奏にのせられる音楽の旋律が実に美しい。
「ラフへスト(L’art rest)」すなわち「芸術は残る」というタイトルから、
「偉大なる芸術家の話」だという先入観を抱いていたけれど、
日常的に交わされる男女の感情と共依存の感覚は、国や時代を超えても普遍的。
