TVドラマ「ショムニ」での三枚目役、そしてアンパンマンの声の人。
女優の戸田恵子さんといえば、そんなイメージしかなかった。
彼女がカーネギーホールで一人芝居をされるという機会にお声がけいただいた。
劇作家・三谷幸喜氏が戸田さんのために書き下ろした脚本、そして演出。
「SERI 〜ひとつのいのち」の脚本家・高橋亜子さんが訳詞担当というご縁も驚き。
ニューヨークでの日本語公演にどんな客層が集まるかも興味深かったが、
２日間の公演は、８割日本人、２割外国人で客席は埋め尽くされていた。
戸田さんならではのトークと歌唱と舞台演出で、あっという間の90分。
まったく先入観なしで観劇したけれど、本当に楽しい舞台であった。
この後、日本での凱旋公演が続くということで、機会があったらぜひ。
She played a unique role in the TV drama "Shomuni" and the voice of "Anpanman."
That was the only image I had of actress Ms. Keiko Toda.
I was invited to the opportunity to watch her perform a one-woman show at Carnegie Hall.
Playwright Mr. Koki Mitani wrote the script and directed the play for Ms. Toda.
I was also surprised to learn that Ms. Ako Takahashi, the playwright of "SERI - One Life," translated the lyrics for the play.
It was also interesting to see what kind of audience would be attracted to a Japanese-language performance in New York,
The audience for the two-day performance was 80% Japanese and 20% non-Japanese.
The 90 minutes went by quickly, thanks to Toda's unique talk, singing, and stage direction.
I saw the play without preconceptions, but I enjoyed it.
The show will be followed by a series of triumphant performances in Japan, so please do not miss it if you have a chance.
