逢瀬という言葉を辞書で引くと、「人の目を忍んで会うこと」とある。
そして「束の間」であることが、大前提らしい。
コロナ禍でメキシコに移住してしまった親友が、ニューヨークを再訪。
フライトで片道４時間とはいえ、国境を越える旅はそう容易くはない。
２泊しかないなか、仕事の合間を縫って、束の間の密会。まさに「逢瀬」。
前職場の新人研修で初めて会ってから、もう30年以上の付き合い。
残りの人生、どれだけの人に会えるだろうか。
