過去に、原作を読んだことがあった。
この原作がどんな風に映画化されるのか、とても興味があった。

「西郷どん」で人気のある俳優さんということしか知らなかった。
スクリーンに映った「浩輔」の左耳にピアス穴を２つ見た時に、
LGBTQ＋、もしくは若い頃によほど遊んでいたのかなと思った。
それぐらい自然に、同性愛者という振る舞いが、演じられていた。
「LGBTQ＋インクルーシブディレクター」と「インテマシー・コレオグラファー」。
日本作品として初めてこれらを取り入れたことも話題になっている。
「龍太」役の宮沢氷魚氏は、若さという美しさが先行している一方で、
その母役を演じる阿川佐和子さんの俳優魂には凄みがあった。
そして、最後に衰退した彼女の手を握る浩輔の手付きは、女性そのものだった。
アメリカ人の反応は、きっと日本人のそれよりストレートで伝わりやすい。
LGBTQ ＋を取り上げることなんて、世界から見れば当たり前のことだけれど、
日本のエンタメ界で多様性が受け入れられることは、とても大きな一歩。
アメリカの舞台で、通訳を入れずに流暢な英語で堂々とやり取りする鈴木亮平氏。
溢れる思いをひたすら伝えようとする松永大司監督の言葉を、
的確に訳する同時通訳者のスキルも素晴らしく、聴衆は大満足だったろう。
「映画の最初と最後の二度、タイトルクレジットを入れたことに意味がある」
既に他界している原作者に代わって、松永監督がメッセージを伝えていく。
他人に対して誠意と優しさを持って接することが「思いやり」と「愛」になる。
でもそれは結局のところ、自分自身を思いやる愛、「エゴ」ということか。
人間なんてみんな身勝手で、人を愛することは究極の自己満足。
だからこそ、世界は愛でまわっていくのだ。
きっと。

It was significant that the title credit "EGOIST" was given twice, once at the beginning and again at the end of the film.
Director Matsunaga delivers the message on behalf of the original author, who has already passed away.
Treating others sincerely and kindly is "compassion" and "love."
