コロナ禍、学校に行けずに仲間とスケボーサークルで活動していた長男。
学校が再開したジュニアイヤーから本格的にフリスビー練習に精を入れ、
キャプテンを務めたシニアイヤーで、遂に決勝戦までコマを進めた。
シーズン終盤になると、試合観戦に来る父兄も増えてくる。
とはいえ、多感な高校時代に親に見られるのが嫌だった自分の過去を振り返り、
少し離れた所から、彼らの奮闘ぶりを見ていることにした。
ところが、試合開始早々、長男チームのエースの一人が負傷した。
膝の関節が外れているようで、救急車を呼ぶしかない状況に、選手達も複雑な心境。
日中は晴天だった空に雨雲が立ちこめ、落雷と夕立予報、試合は延期になるのか。
日本ではあり得ない、小一時間してようやく救急車が到着した。
そして、試合再開。
攻守攻防の接戦の末、見事に長男チームが優勝し、2023年春シーズンが終了した。
４年間の高校生活の大半をコロナ禍で過ごしたけれど、
スポーツを通じて育まれた友情は、これからも長く続いていくだろう。
未来だけを見ている若者たちが、今はとても神々しい。
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, my eldest could not attend school and was active in a skateboarding club with his friends.
In his junior year, when school resumed, he started practicing frisbee in earnest,
He finally made it to the finals in his senior year as captain.
Toward the end of the season, more and more parents come to watch the games.
However, I look back on my past, when I didn't want my parents to watch me during my impressionable high school years,
I decided to watch them struggle from a little distance.
However, early in the game, one of the aces on my eldest son's team was injured.
His knee joint seemed to be dislocated, and the players had no choice but to call an ambulance, which left them with mixed feelings.
Rain clouds were gathering in the sky, though clear during the day, and lightning and evening showers were forecast.
It would not happen in Japan. After an hour, the ambulance finally arrived.
The game resumed.
After a close game of offense and defense, my eldest son's team won the championship, and the 2023 spring season ended.
Though they spent most of their four years of high school life in the COVID-19 pandemic,
the friendships nurtured through sports will last for a long time to come.
Looking only to the future, these young men are so godly now.
