岸田家の来訪とトシカプチーノ

岸田奈美さんと御縁ができたのは、コロナ禍まっただなかのこと。

彼女が以前ニューヨーク訪問した際のエピソードを読んだことがあったけれど、

そこに登場した「オネエ口調の男性」が、20年来の友人であるとは気付かなかった。

友人、トシカプチーノ氏のことは、これまでたくさんブログにも綴ってきたし、

エピソードの舞台となった「あるミュージシャンのコンサート」の現場に、

私自身も居合わせていたのだから、なんという偶然か。

奈美さん曰く「シャイな自分は、あの時トシさんと一言も口を聞いてない」のに、

あの体験を綴ったエッセイは、なんと京都大学医学部の入試問題に出題された。

そんなこんなで、岸田家がニューヨークに再来、トシさんとの再会も実現した。

私が彼に店舗住所を誤って知らせてしまい（トシさん、ごめんなさい！）、

この先もずっとネタになる体験を募らせてしまったりもしたけれど、

こんな形で、御縁と御縁が繋がっていくことは、決して偶然ではないのだろう。

海外旅行が初めてという良太くんが「ハロー」と無邪気な笑顔をふりまいて、

年末年始は病床にいたひろ実さんが、元気に車イスで闊歩する。

その様子を見るだけでも、こんなに心があったかくなるのは、なぜだろう。

「愛する家族との距離感」を大事にしている奈美さんだからこそ、

こんなにも多くの人の心を鷲掴みにしているのだろう。

岸田家と過ごした怒涛の数日間を早くも懐かしく思うなか、時間だけは止まらない。

We first became acquainted with Nami Kishida during the Corona disaster.

I had the opportunity to help her translate the story of the car gift to her mother, Hiromi, into many languages.

I had read about her previous visit to New York, though,

I didn't realize that the "lady-ish man" who appeared in the story was a friend of mine of 20 years.

I have blogged a lot about my friend, Toshi Cappuccino.

What a coincidence that I was present at the concert of a musician where the episode took place.

Nami said that she was too shy to say a word to Toshi at the time,

But the essay she wrote about that experience was used in an entrance exam for Kyoto University's Faculty of Medicine.

So, the Kishida family came back to New York, and we met Toshi-san again.

I gave him the wrong store address (my apologies, Toshi-san!), and it was an experience that will be a story for a long time.

Anyway, it is no coincidence that our connection is connected in such a way.

Her young brother, Ryota, who had never traveled abroad, said, "Hello," with an innocent smile.

Hiromi, ill during the year-end and New Year holidays, strutted around in her wheelchair in good spirits.

Why is it that just seeing them warms my heart so much?

Because Nami values the "distance from her beloved family, " she has captured so many people's hearts.

While I already miss the raging days I spent with the Kishida family, time doesn't stop.
