アーティスト西村麻里さんが、WOKUNIとのコラボ企画を開催。
「WOKUNI」が2017年の開店からすでに６年目に入っていることにも驚いたけれど、
毎月定期的にマグロの解体ショーを開催していることも知らなかった。
麻里さんから送られてきた英語のインビテーションが微妙で、
最初はどういうコラボレーションかも分からなかったけれど、
ライブペイティングとマグロの解体ショーが別々に行われた後に、
アート作品やマグロをそれぞれオークションにかけるという面白い企画だった。
麻里さんが作品を描く時、それはアーティストが手の内を見せることで、
それを外に出さない人が少なくないけれど、麻里さんは公衆の面前でそれをやる。
ステージに広げられたキャンバス（掛け軸）を、しばし見つめる麻里さん。
何かが降りてきたように、彼女の手が宙を舞った後、筆を持って一気に描き上げる。
込み上げてきた感情を臆すことなく、すすり泣きながら、それでも手が動く。
完成までわずか15分というところだろうか、天に昇るドラゴンが誕生した。
最初は遠巻きにしていたアメリカ人も、最後はステージにかぶりつき、
拍手喝采のなか、麻里さんが感動の挨拶で締めくくった。
彼女と知り合ってもう何年にもなるけれど、まだまだ進化が止まらない。
今年はすでにドバイとニューヨーク、この後すぐにローマ、パリへと飛んでいく。
私の母が他界したすぐ後に、麻里さんのお母様が御逝去された。
母への想いを語り合った後、それでも前を向いている麻里さんに刺激を受ける。
「今やりたいことを全部やる」という彼女の背中を、今度は私が追いかけなくては。
Artist Mari Nishimura collaborated with WOKUNI on a project.
I was surprised to learn that WOKUNI has already been in business for six years since its opening in 2017,
I didn't know they regularly hold monthly tuna dismantling (cutting) shows.
Since the English invitations Mari sent us were unique,
we didn't even know what kind of collaboration it was at first.
The live painting and the tuna dismantling show were held separately, and then the artwork and tuna were auctioned off.
Many artists don't show their work process, but Mari sometimes does it publicly.
Mari gazed at the canvas (hanging scroll) on the stage.
As if something came down from the canvas, her hand danced in the air, and then she picked up a brush and painted in one stroke.
Sobbing, her hand still moves, unabashedly expressing the emotions that have welled up inside her.
It had taken only 15 minutes to complete, but a dragon ascending to the heavens was born.
Even the Americans, who had been distant at first, gazed at the stage at the end,
Mari closed the event with a moving speech amidst applause.
I have known her for many years, but she has not stopped evolving.
She has already flown to Dubai and New York this year, and soon after this, she will go to Rome and Paris.
Mari's mother passed away right after my mother passed away.
After discussing our feelings for our mothers, I was inspired by Mari's forward-looking attitude.
She said, "I will do everything I want to do now," and I must follow her back.
