両眼性無眼球症（全盲）とたくさんの障害を持って生まれた娘を育てながら、日米の架け橋となるべく東奔西走しています。
暗闇の中を手探りで歩いてきた当時の経験から、周囲に「助けて」と言える社会づくりを目指した活動を行っています。

目のことは障害の一つに過ぎないけれど、心臓は生命に関わることだ。
千璃の体力回復を待って、今度は心臓医の門を叩いた。
「生命に関わる問題」と指摘されて以来、我が子の生と死への不安で一杯なまま過ごしていた。
エコー検査を実施したのは、イタリア系のちょっとお洒落なＳ医師だった。
「心室に穴が開いているが、チアノーゼもひどくないので、緊急手術の必要はありません。
ただ、エコーで小さな穴に見えても、実際には大きな裂け目になっている可能性もあります。
引き続き注意深く様子を見ていきましょう」
心雑音がある患者は、歯の治療も含め、どんな小さな手術の際にも、必ず抗生物質を投与しなければならないが、他に大きな症状が出ていなければ日常生活に問題はないという。
心雑音の原因が確定し、今すぐに生命に関わるほどの大きな疾患でないことが分かり、胸を撫で下ろした。
少しだけ、安堵した。
Her eyes were an obstacle, but a heart condition would be a matter of life or death.
After Seri had recovered, we would go see a heart doctor.
Once Dr. L impressed on us that this was a critical issue, we were full of anxiety for our daughter’s wellbeing.
The echocardiogram was carried out by a fashionable Italian doctor, Dr. S.
“She has a hole in one of the chambers of her heart, but since the cyanosis isn’t bad there’s no need for emergency surgery.
However, even though the hole looks small on the echocardiogram, it could turn out to be a bigger tear.
Let’s keep a close eye on it moving forward,” Dr. S recommended.
Patients with heart murmurs must receive antibiotics for any minor surgery—even for dental work—but as long as there are no other major symptoms, they have no problems in everyday life.
With the cause of the heart murmur determined, I was able to calm down a little knowing that Seri did not have any life-threatening conditions for now.
I heaved a sigh of relief.
