ニューヨークでは、毎週末のようにストリートフェアが開催されている。
年間行事表のなかに予定が組まれて、出店するベンダーも決められている。
コロナ禍、こういったイベントがすべて中止になっていたけれど、
ワクチン接種が進んだ今年の夏頃から、少しずつ再開している。
この週末は、我が家の前の通りで、ストリートフェアが開催されていた。
道路は通行止めになって、朝からベンダーの準備が始まる。
この地域の店舗もベンダーとして参加しているから、
ペットグッズの店や、スポーツクラブのブースには、人だかりができていた。
しかしソーシャルディスタンスを守るために、ベンダー同士の距離があるし、
出店数も明らかに少ないから、なんだか寂しい祭りだった。
17時半を過ぎると、あっという間に片付けが始まる。
18時には道路はすっかり綺麗になって、元の街の光景に戻る。
いや、元の街なんてない。
呼吸を潜めながらでも、全てが、変わっていく。
In New York City, the city holds street fairs every weekend.
They schedule in the annual calendar of events and the set vendors.
The COVID-19 pandemic caused all of these events to be canceled.
But since this summer, when the vaccination has progressed, they have been gradually resumed.
This weekend, a street fair was held on the street in front of our house.
The road was closed to traffic, and preparations for the vendors started in the morning.
The stores in this area are participating as vendors too.
There were crowds of people at the pet goods stores and the sports club booths.
However, to protect the social distance, there is a distance between the vendors.
The number of vendors was also obviously small, so it was a rather lonely festival.
After 5:30 p.m., the cleanup began in a flash.
By 6:00 p.m., the streets are entirely cleaned up, and the scene returns to the original city.
No, there is no such thing as an original city.
Everything is changing.
