コロナ禍で、ロックダウンが決まった昨年の３月。
学校に行けなくなるなんて、想像もつかなかった。
学生というとても大事な時期を、ただ家で過ごすこと。
休み時間のくだらないお喋りも、先生への悪戯も、できない。
でも子供たちは、あっという間にオンライン授業に慣れて、
彼らなりに、友達と交流する方法を考え出した。
今春から分散登校が再開し、中高生のワクチン接種も進んだ。
出口の見えないコロナとの戦いは、まだ終わっていないけれど、
長い夏休みが終わって、ようやく初登校の日がやってきた。
見送った背中が、あまりにも大きくなっていて驚く。
私の役目は、あとどのくらい残っているのだろう。
Last March, when the government decided the lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
I couldn't imagine that kids wouldn't be able to go to school.
To just stay at home during this very important time as a student.
No more nonsense chatter during recess, no more pranks on the teachers.
But the kids quickly got used to the online classes and figured out how to interact with their friends.
Distributed school attendance resumed this spring, and vaccinations for middle and high school students are underway.
The battle against COVID-19, with no way out in sight, is not over yet, but after the long summer vacation, the first day of school has finally arrived.
I was surprised at how big their back I saw off was.
I wonder how much more I have left to do my part.
