普段の生活のなかで、テレビを見ることがほとんどない。
平日は、朝の戦争に始まり、日中の仕事、深夜の在宅ワークと続くから、
リビングルームでくつろぐような時間はない。
週末はニューヨーク郊外のアップステートの往復で、文明の機器とはかけ離れた
生活を送る。
しかし、この数日だけは、テレビの電源を入れて、天気予報をたびたび聞いていた。
「風速30メートル、積雪75センチ、史上最大のブリザードがやってくる」
どのチャンネルからも、ブレイクニュースが流れてくる。
観測史上最大級の暴風雪に見舞われる可能性に備えて、ニューヨーク市は万全の
対策で待機するように、市民に呼びかけた。
不気味なほど静かな夜。
街を抜ける風の音が次第に強くなり、街は白煙に飲み込まれた。
夜半、風の音を聞きながら、自宅の窓から階下を眺めると、
不思議な感覚に襲われる。
猛吹雪の中、真っ白になっていく街が、美しく見えた。
東の空が白んでくる。
何があっても、朝はやってくる。
除雪車のライトが道路を照らす。
地下鉄と路線バスは止まっているけれど、道路を歩く人影が見える。
街は静かに動き出した。
ニューヨークという街は、力強い。
Among the everyday life, there is little to see the TV.
On weekdays, from the early morning to the late-night, I don't have time
such as to relax in the living room.
On weekend, in round-trip to suburb of New York Upstate, I am far from
the life and civilization of equipment.
However, only for this few days, I put the power of television, and had heard
often the weather forecast.
"The massive blizzard could cover the city in more than 2 feet of snow."
From any channel, break news was broadcast.
There was a possibility that hit the observation history largest storm snow.
Before it came, New York government declared a state of emergency and urged
New Yorkers to stay home.
It was an eerily quiet night.
The wind exiting the city became increasingly strong and the town was engulfed
in white smoke.
At midnight, while I was listening to the sound of the wind, I looked at the
downstairs from home windows.
I was attacked by a strange feeling.
In the blizzard, the process that the city became in pure white looked so beautiful.
The eastern sky became whiten.
Even if there is anything, the morning comes every day.
Snow plow lights illuminated the road.
Although subway and bus has still suspended, there was figure walking on the road.
The city began to move quietly.
The city of New York is so tough and strong.
