「NY ADC Young Guns 17」授賞セレモニーは、ニューヨークの老舗、
ソニーホールで開催された。
世界中から集まった受賞者たちは、当日の18時に招集された。
受賞者本人以外は会場に立ち入り出来ず、篠原氏一人が会場内へ。
我々は、寒空の下で待機するよりも、バーで一杯飲んで待とうということになった。
PR担当の女性スタッフと込み入った話をして、18時半に会場に行くと、
篠原健太氏が、やや不安そうな面持ちで待っていた。
私がもう一度受賞者の動線を確認したいとオーガナイザーに申し出て、
最初から説明をし直してもらう。
その時に、主催者の一人であるスタッフが、私に頰を寄せてきた。
耳元で「今夜、素晴らしいことが起こるからね」とささやく。
会が進行し、最後に「クリエイティブ・チョイス・アワード」が発表された時、
先のオーガナイザーが、私にウィンクを送ってきた。
不意に名前を呼ばれても、堂々とステージに赴き、ガッツポーズをする若き英雄。
受賞者全員との記念撮影が終わると、篠原氏の姿が背後に消えた。
見ると、必死にトロフィーの写真を携帯で撮影している。
その数分後、送られてきた映像に、私は感嘆した。
篠原氏「コマ撮り」の技術が、瞬時にトロフィーに息吹を与えた。
テーブル上でクルクルと回るトロフィーの映像を眺めながら、
日本の広告業界の明るい未来に目を細める。
初日にチップを巻き上げられてからの巻き返し。
一般投票で最高位に君臨した賞金は、次の海外視察への資金になるだろう。
世界への扉は、こんなにも近いところに開かれている。
「ストップモーション・アニメーション」という言葉は、世界共通の言語になった。
