２年半前、個展開催のため渡米中だったアーティスト西村麻里さんを、
バイオリニスト加野景子さんのコンサートにお誘いした。
予備知識を何もお伝えしないまま、ただ「一緒に行きましょう」と。
ミステリオという団体の主催で、座席には手作りの白い人形が置いてあった。
そこに絵柄を描いて完成した人形を、世界中の子供たちに配布するのが目的で、
ゲストたちは各々マーカーを手に取り、可愛い人形を完成させていた。
コンサートが始まると、会場の空気が明らかに変わった気がした。
マンハッタンで暮らす人々の様子を、音楽と朗読で奏でるストーリー。
和やかな雰囲気の中に、ピンと尖ったバイオリンの音色が激しく響いた。
隣にいた麻里さんの目から涙が溢れ出てるのが見えた。
いわゆる共感覚を持つ彼女は、本物のアートをまさに肌で感じている。
「音楽が放つオーラと、演奏者のオーラの色が１つに重なる時」に、
彼女の内面が激しく揺さぶられることを知っていたから、
私はそのシーンを見て、さらに熱い感動を一緒に味わっていた。

「自宅のピアノ横に飾る「不死鳥」を描いてほしい」
バイオリニストからのオーダーに、アーティストが応えた作品を、
一緒にお届けに伺った。
ベールが解き放たれた瞬間に、キャンバスの不死鳥が鮮やかに蘇った。
火に飛び込んだ不死鳥が、新しい生命に生まれ変わるときのように。
もの凄い迫力と同時に、生命をそっと見守る優しさが見え隠れする。
力強い不死鳥に見守られながら、バイオリンを弾く景子さんの姿を想像する。
小さな身体からは想像もつかないような迫力ある演奏は、まさに不死鳥のよう。
それを見事に表現した麻里さんの力量にも圧倒される。
ここからまた、新しい音霊が生まれていくのだろう。
無限大に人の心を鷲掴みにするアーティストのコラボレーション、
その瞬間に立ち会えた、奇跡に感謝。
Two and a half years ago, I invited an artist Mari Nishimura, who was in the US for a solo exhibition, to a concertby Violinist Eiko Kano.
I just said “Let's go together” though I've never input her prior knowledge about the musician.
The concert was hosted by a group called Msterio, there were handmade white dolls on the seat.
The purpose was to distribute the completed dolls to children all over the world,
Each guest picked up a marker and completed a cute doll.
When the concert started, I felt that the atmosphere in the venue had changed.
It was a story of music and readings about "the people living in Manhattan".
The tone of a violin with a sharp point reverberated in a peaceful atmosphere.
I saw tears overflowing from Mari's eyes next to me.
With so-called synesthesia, she feels real art with her skin.
"When the aura of music and the color of the performer's aura overlap,"
I knew that her inside was shaken violently,
I saw that scene and enjoyed the hot emotion together.

"I want Mari to draw a "phoenix" to display next to my Steinway piano at home."
We got an offer to the artist from a violinist.
I attended to deliver it to her home when Mari was in New York.
When the veil was released, the phoenix on the canvas revived vividly.
Like when a phoenix jumping into fire to reborn into a new life.
At the same time as the tremendous power, the warmth of watching life gently appears.
I imagine Eiko playing a violin while watching over a powerful phoenix.
Her powerful performance that cannot be imagined from a small body is like a phoenix.
I was overwhelmed by the ability of Mari who expressed it wonderfully.
From here, a new sound spirit will be born again.
A collaboration of artists who grab the hearts of people infinitely,
I appreciate the miracle that I saw that moment.
