ボストン在住の先輩とチャット。
東海岸にまた20インチ超の積雪予報。
日本行きのフライトは、24時間遅延が決定したらしい。
翌朝、ニューヨークにも冷たい雪が降っていた。
子供達を学校に送り出し、そのまま空港に向かう。
予期されていたほどのストームではないけれど、
遅延アナウンスが飛び交う空港は、人々の表情もどっぷり暗い。
ボーディング後も、不凍液をかける作業で、
一向に離陸する気配がない。
ふと睡魔に襲われて、ウトウトしかけた頃に、
ようやくエンジンの音が変わった。
雪雲を突き抜けた空の上は快晴。
当たり前だけれど、空が青い。
深呼吸して、西に向かう。

When suddenly attacked by a sleepy, I started to fall in sleep,
At last the sound of the engine changed.
It was a fine day above the sky that we passed through the snow cloud.
Naturally, the sky was blue.
I took a deep breath and headed to the west.
